About Me

Carla Cato
My food passion has always been pastries.
After I left school, I went to study at the Christina Martin School of Food & Wine. I qualified in 1998.
My work experience started with running various lodges and boutique hotels within South Africa. Thereafter, I left to travel abroad and pursue my dream of becoming a pastry chef. I worked under various chefs, but one in particular encouraged me to be where I am today – Chris Barber – who was the personal chef of HRH, The Prince of Wales.

My idea behind this exciting venture is to create top quality, easily accessible food for people to enjoy.

Carla’s Cakes and Cuisine is my dream.
My mother, Joy, is my inspiration.
